Dr. Tim was born and raised in New Hampshire and has been a proud New Englander ever since. He earned his undergraduate degree in Biology in 2013 at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts. Dr. Tim spent his extracurricular time volunteering for the Special Olympics and weekly Unified Sports events on campus, which helped him come to the realization that a career where he could treat people was in his future.
During his summers off from college, Dr. Tim was able to work side by side with his father, Dr. John J. Ahern, DDS, and even with Dr. Matt here at Abenaki Dental Care. He immediately admired the artistry, finesse and skill each dental procedure required. More importantly, he loved witnessing the relationships develop between these men and their countless patients.
Tufts University School of Dental Medicine gave Dr. Tim the most profound experience of self-discovery he could have ever wished for as he immersed himself in the community, volunteering his service with the Tufts Medical Psychiatric Residency Program and the Josiah Quincy School in Boston. He also had the humbling opportunity to spend externship hours at Community Dental Care of Claremont in New Hampshire, shedding light on the impact he could have on his state. Dr. Tim was the proud recipient of the Northeast Delta Dental Endowed Scholarship.
At Tufts Dental School, nothing is stressed higher than chairside demeanor. All students possess the hand and mental skills to be dentists, but those who truly wish to be great must utilize their people skills from within. Dr. Tim had the privilege of learning what it meant to be a great dentist under the likes of Drs. Alan Epstein, Mary Karish, Mark Caddell, James Theodore, Ala Ali, Pilar Sanchez, Brendan Prindiville, Richard Doff, Linda Marinello, John Ricci, and many others.
Dr. Tim strives to stay at the forefront of dental technology and in 2018 has completed advanced courses in CEREC dentistry and invisalign®.
